55 YEARS HUGE EXTRUDED DISC L4-5 RIGHT SIDE.
Anamnesis:
The patient came to the
clinic 21-April-2009 complaining of LBP for 2
months with agonizing right sciatica.
On examination: the patient
has SLRS 30 degrees with pain in the right with
weak dorsi and planterflexion right foot: -4/5.
There is hypalgesia right L5 territory. The
patient has severe scoliotic stance and limping
during walk.
CT-scan lumbar spine performed
in Palestine showing huge PLD L4-5 with right
foraminal occlusion. Considering the financial
status of the patient, MRI was not requested.
Right L5 foraminotomy was
performed and the extruded disc was removed
lateral to the axilla in several pieces, after
what the root became free. Right sided cleaning
of L4-5 disc space was achieved. Check for
instability was negative. Routine closure of the
wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery
and the power of right foot normalized.
Comments
The patient performed only
CT-scan of the lumbar spine, for what the
expectation for the recurrence rate cannot be
extracted.
