28-MAY-2008 JAMAL YASEEN YASEEN 38 YEARS PROLAPSED
DISC C6-7 WITH BILATERAL EXTRUSION, MORE THE LEFT.
Anamnesis:
The patient came to the
clinic 18-May-2008 complaining of neck pain for
18 months with cephalic syndrome for 45 days
with clumsiness of both hands.
MRI cervical spine performed
22-April-2008 showing prolapsed cervical disc
C6-7 with bilateral extrusion.
On examination: the power of
hand extensors and both triceps were 4/5, more
weak in the right side. The patient claiming
that his condition is deteriorating.
Discectomy of C6-7, guided
with image-intensifier was performed and
meticulous cleaning of the old and fresh
extrusion was removed from both sides and the
dura was seen after removing the calcified
posterior longitudinal ligament.
Routine closure of the wound
with prompt recovery of the power of upper
limbs.
Comments
Single level cervical
discectomy requires no fixation, nor inserting
artificial devices, if the joints of Luschka and
other supporting anatomical structures are kept
intact.
