YEARS CENTRAL EXTRUDED DISC L5-S1 MORE TO THE RIGHT.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the emergency of Shmaisani
hospital with history of severe LBP for 1 day
with agonizing bilateral sciatica. The patient
is unable to walk due to pain. MRI lumbar spine
done today, showing huge extruded central disc
L5-S1 more to the right with bulge L4-5.
On examination SLRS was 30 degrees both sides
with pain and weak dorsiflexion right foot.
Flavotomy L5-S1 with
foraminotomy right S1 root. The extruded disc
was reached subaxillary and removed. Meticulous
cleaning of the disc space of L5-S1.
Smooth postoperative
recovery. The power of right foot became normal.
Comments
The patient still has an estimated postoperative
recurrence rate around 7%, because the disc
space height is still not shallow.
