YEARS SEVERE RIGHT CTS AND LEFT TARSAL TUNNEL SYNDROME.
Anamnesis
The patient seen by Dr. Ali Al-Bayyati came to the clinic
01-January-2026 complaining of chronic neck pain
radiating to both shoulders associated with both
wrists pain and numbness median distribution
both sides awakening her during night with
bilateral heel pain associated with standing
with numbness of base of big toe more the right
foot. The patient is diabetic under
treatment and using L-thyroxin.
On examination, the patient has positive Tinel's
sign for both median and posterior tibial nerve.
and all data supporting presence of bilateral
CTS and Tarsal tunnel syndrome.
The patient was sent for investigation and MRI
cervical and lumbar demonstrated
degenerative discopathy with no prominent
extrusions, nor stenosis. EMG data confirmed
presence of CTS more severe in the right and
moderate tarsal tunnel syndrome more to the left
side.
Right carpal tunnel release
was done and using 2 separate incisions the left
posterior tibial nerve was released with the
medial and lateral branches down to Baxter
nerve. The tissues were woody and the branches
were severely compressed.
FOLLOW UP
Still early now.
Comments
The decompression is the best solution in
such case.
