EXTRUDED DISC C6-7 WITH RIGHT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came
to the clinic 08-June-2013 complaining of neck
and right shoulder and upper limb pain for 4
days.
On examination: The patient has pain when
turning the head to the right, up and down and
bending the head to the right shoulder with
limitation of neck movements. There is
weak grip and extension of the right hand 4/5
with weak right triceps muscle 3/5.
MRI of the cervical spine done 08-June-2013
showing extruded disc C6-7 with right foraminal
occlusion.
Discectomy C6-7.
The extruded disc was removed from the right
foramen until the dura was seen at the most of
the right side. Insertion of Fidji cervical cage: 14x17x6.1 to C6-7 level. Using
Zimmer Trinica 1 level cervical plate 24 mm
length, 4 fixed 16x4.2 mm screws, fusion of C6-7 was achieved,
using NovaBone during that.
Routine closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery. The power of the
right upper limb became normal.
Comments
The patient was initially recommended to undergo
conservative treatment, but he came after 6 days
urging for surgery.
