EXTRUDED DISC C5-6, 6-7 RIGHT SIDE.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 01-July-2002
telling that he suffered RTA with web lash
injury to the neck 08-June-2002 with neck and
both shoulders pain. 3 days later got numbness
III-V fingers right hand. MRI cervical spine performed
26-June-2002 showing huge extruded disc 5-6 and C6-7. The patient is
insulin dependent diabetic under
treatment.
On examination: The patient has neck pain when
rotating the head to all directions with power
of both hands flexion and extension 3/5, so
the right biceps and triceps. There
is hypalgesia below the right C4 level down to
right D1.
Through anterior approach, using the C-arm the level of C5-6 identified
and discectomy with osteophytectomy was
performed until the dura was seen at the bottom
of the created disc space. The same was done to
C6-7. Routine
closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
The power of both upper limbs improved.
He was sent to the ward.
Follow Up
The patient came to the clinic 28-July-2002 with
clean wound , weak grip both hands 4/5 and
complaining of pain left shoulder.
Since the condition was legal, he was provided
with many reports.
The patient then came 17-January-2005
complaining of LBP with MRI performed recently
showing bulge L1-2, mild stenosis L3-4,
dehydrated disci L4-5 and L5-S1 with Tarlov
cyst. He was neurologically free and treated
conservatively.
Comments
The cervical disci never recur and when
legal conflict present, the patient will continue to
complain even he is an orthopedic surgeon.
