PSEUDOTUMOR CEREBRI-FAILED ATTEMPT FOR VPS WITH INFECTION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 17-January-2004
complaining of neck pain for 9 years with
headache and blurring vision and decreased
visual functions both eyes. In 01-July-1998 LPS
inserted from the left side. The patient
improved but got hernia at the site of
insertion, which was repaired by mesh. In
September-2002 she was operated for PLD L5-S1,
during which she got infection and several
attempts to resolve the problem failed and the
shunt was removed 10-January-2004. The patient
started antibiotics and was admitted for
surgery.
PS Medical LPS was inserted
and directed to the right side of the abdomen.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
FOLLOW UP
The patient came to the clinic 31-Januuary-2004
with clean wounds and she was asked to repeat
fundus photography , VA and perimetery.
The patient then came 16-February-2004 with no
papilloedema and normal visual functions.
The last time came 07-January-2009 complaining
of left inguinal hernia. She was sent to general
surgeons.
Comments
The patient has infection of the first shunt
removal of it and treating the infection, then
replacing it in other direction is the safest
measure.
